Have you been to Breckenridge, Colorado? It might be one of the most beautiful places in the world that is, if you love mountains. Breckenridge is nestled between jagged peaks and surrounded by gorgeous forests and to have such a jaw dropping landscapes requires well…weather. Colorado is famous for its long, cold, snow filled winters and summers marked by afternoon thunderstorms.
So as much as I would love to spend all my days adventuring in the outdoors around Breckenridge, it’s not always realistic, at least for 8 months of the year. Luckily there are some fun indoor activites in Breckenridge that are great if you find yourself needing to escape the weather or just want an excuse to bond with your family.
Escape Room Breckenridge
This was such an incredible experience for our family. We did it with our 5 kids ages 8 to 19 and they loved it.
Not Intimidating At All
First off, I loved the welcoming environment. Nicollete, the owner of Escape Room Breckenridge, has done an amazing job of making the ambiance inviting and friendly.
Before we arrived, my younger kids were nervous about not being able to do the clues or that it would be scary and it couldn’t have been further from the truth. The escape room was intriguing but not scary at all. I was really thankful for that part because I’ve been to some escape rooms in the past without my kids that would have caused them nightmeres for days.
Now Nicollete did say that some of the rooms can be scarier, but we chose the Hollywood Murder room and it wasn’t at all.
Fun for the Entire Family
While the 8 and 10 year old couldn’t solve everything, they were still able to solve some of them and we could involve them in opening locks. The room was set up to make it so that they were comfortable being in the room and part of the game.
While my 8 year old enjoyed being a part of the fun and solved parts of the problems, I wouldn’t recommend it for any kids younger than that. Although, Tatiana was so inspired by the escape room that she went home and spent the entire next day creating her own escape room.
Variety of Puzzles & Clues
I think what my family loved most about Escape Room Breckenridge was the nice diversity of clues and that there were enough clues to get everyone involved.
Some of the clues required a little math, some were word problems, and others involved logic. There were close to 20 clues so no one ever felt bored.
I’m competitve and love problem solving, so I really enjoyed the fact that some of the clues were challenging enough to stump me. All three of my teenagers were able to solve most of the problems and were laughing, having fun the entire time, and were talking about it for days after.
Don’t worry about not being smart enough to fiugre out every clue. If you feel stuck with a problem or lost, you can call into the game keeper for a clue. We used our three clues to keep the momentum going and allow everyone to partake in the problem solving.
5 Room Options
There are 5 different rooms you can choose from at Escape room Breckenridge and all of them looked really fun and creative. Nicollete must have had a blast shopping for and designing each room 🙂
The variety of clue types and family friendly atmosphere make this a perfect for indoor activity for families looking to go make some fun memories while visiting Breckenridge.
